  2. Settings & Privacy → Settings

From the left menu, click Your Facebook Information, then choose Deactivation and Deletion.

  4. Select “Deactivate Account”

Choose Deactivate AccountContinue to Account Deactivation and follow the on-screen instructions.

  5. Confirm

You may be asked for your password. Confirm to complete deactivation.

On the Facebook mobile app (iOS/Android)

  1. Tap your profile picture (menu) → Settings & PrivacySettings.

  3. Choose Deactivation and Deletion → Select Deactivate Account → follow the steps.

Deactivate vs Delete: What’s the difference?

Deactivate Delete
Temporary. Your profile is hidden; you can come back anytime. Permanent. After a grace period, your data is removed and can’t be recovered.
Messenger may still work unless you disable it separately. Messenger is deleted; you can’t use it with this account.

How to reactivate later

Simply log back in with your email/phone and password. Your account will be restored unless you requested deletion.
